Background: I received a Ph.D. from Michigan State in 1969, where I studied economic analysis of public policy problems and psychological characteristics of competitive behavior. Since joining the Department in 1968, I have been a visiting scholar or fellow in the economic faculties at the University of California (Berkeley, 1970-71), the Universities of Bielefeld and Frankfurt (West Germany, 1975, 1981) and the former faculty of socialist business economics at the Technical University of Leipzig (1990). I speak fluent German, have written a book on computer applications in business policy, and co-authored a PC-based statistics package. 

Research Interests: My interests include American government; methodology; political economy; public policy; research methods; topics in political economy. I have conducted research on long-term care financing for the State of Hawaii.Over the past 8 years, he has been engaged in a major research project on auto accident injuries, sponsored by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.

Courses taught: Undergraduate courses in American government, public policy, topics in political economy, and research methods.
