Web Policies and Procedures for Web Publishing
Web Administrators will read and follow the College of Social Sciences' web policies to make sure that each organization operating a web site will use best practices with regard to its establishment, maintenance and administration.
- Use of Copyrighted or Licensed Material: Written permission must be obtained from the copyright holder and kept on file, whenever necessary, for the use of any and all copyrighted materials not belonging to the University of Hawaii, College of Social Sciences or to a faculty member utilizing his/her own material. Copyright permission is necessary for text, photographs, graphics, audio, video, compiled statistics, graphs or otherwise.
- Use of College Web Pages: Material contained on web pages must not be for business purposes or for financial gain unrelated to academic and research activities traditionally associated with the College of Social Sciences unless otherwise approved by the University of Hawaii. No unit or person is authorized to promote advertising, sponsorship acknowledgements, or links to outside Web sites without prior approval of the College.

The College webmaster is responsible for protecting both the system and users from abuses of these policies and laws. The webmaster may informally and/or formally communicate with offending parties and give instructions as to necessary steps to be taken to correct such violations. In certain cases the University may temporarily or permanently deactivate a web page.
- Responsibility: Academic and administrative units are responsible for the content, links and images on their web pages that contain information on their areas and must have a designated individual responsible for making sure that web pages comply with the College's policies. The information presented on web pages should be consistent with the College’s standards.
